Overview

The Tidong community have been living within the wetlands area for many years. The lower Segama river and it's tributaries are used as the main source of income for the families due to its remoteness. Fish and prawn are caught using net and lines, they also collect clams in Nipah forest and sent to Sandakan city.

Immerse yourself within one of the few tribal communities in Sabah. Learn about their history and how they survive. Spend time on the river searching for wildlife including Orangutan, Proboscis monkeys, Crocodiles and a variety of bird life. Try your hand at fishing and hunting for clams.

 

Day 1:

Lunch will be served upon arrival. After lunch sit down with your host family and learn about the history and fascinating tales about the Tidong people.

At 4pm, take a sunset cruise through the wetlands in search of wildlife and enjoy the beauty of this remote area.

After dinner socialise before retiring to bed. (L & D)

Day 2:

After breakfast your morning will be spent having a go at fishing using nets and helping the locals search for clams.

Early lunch at 12 before learning and trying yourself at making local handicrafts.

Another sunset cruise at 4pm.

Dinner is served at 7pm and then you will go on a night cruise looking for crocodiles and any other nocturnal activity. (B, L & D)

Day 3:

After a very early breakfast, take a 6am morning cruise in search any wildlife waking up. During the boat safari you will stop and enjoy some jungle trekking.

12pm lunch and a few hours rest before your final chance to spot any wildlife on the river.

The evening will be enjoyed with a small farewell party for you. Relax, eat, drink and have fun with your hosts and other from surrounding houses. (B, L & D)

Day 4:

Breakfast and farewells. Depart back to Lahad Datu for your onward journey. (B)
